In order to enhance the legal awareness of community residents and popularize the knowledge of succession laws in the Civil Code for the new era, the Zhanchunyuan Community Committee of College Road Street, Haidian District, Beijing invited lawyers from Beijing Blossom & Credit Law Firm (hereinafter referred to as “Blossom & Credit”) to organize a public lecture on the knowledge of succession laws in the Civil Code of the People’s Republic of China on May 9, 2023, taking into account the actual needs of community residents.

With the economic and social development and the increasing national income, succession laws and regulations has become more and more important. As an integral part of marriage and family laws, succession laws and regulations are closely related to every family. If it’s handled properly, family harmony can be achieved, while if not, family discord can be caused and even greater family conflicts can arise. Community residents, especially the elderly, have limited access to relevant knowledge and information, and do not have a good understanding of succession laws and regulations and how to deal with succession and other related legal practices. Therefore, this public lecture is designed to enhance community residents’ knowledge of succession laws through on-site interaction, so that they can understand and utilize succession laws to protect their own rights and interests.

During this public lecture, Blossom & Credit’s lawyers CHAI Qinghai and ZHANG Yuping explained in detail the provisions of the Civil Code in relation to succession by explaining a number of real cases in depth based on the actual situation of residents’ life, making a vivid lecture on laws for the residents present. The two lawyers interacted with the residents many times and the atmosphere was warm. Through the analysis of real cases, the residents have a better understanding of succession laws and regulations and improved their knowledge of these laws. They all expressed that the lecture was rewarding and hoped that such activities could be carried out more often in the future.

At last, lawyers CHAI Qinghai and ZHANG Yuping conducted on-site one-on-one Q&A sessions. Most of the questions from the community residents were centered on life-related issues, such as real estate, inheritance, alimony and pension. The two lawyers answered these questions patiently and meticulously, which was highly recognized by the residents on site.
